I returned my gaze to the mare, before deciding I'd venture a conversation with her. I approached her slowly. 'You race good.' I said, still walking towards her.

I flicked my ears in a silent appraisal of his arrival. I heaved myself to my feet, my chocolate brown eyes assessing him as they roamed over his body. My legs seemed reluctant to move, but I made them walk back towards him. "Thanks....May I ask your name?" I spoke softly, in my melodic voice.

I smiled as she approached. 'Three Strides is my professional name. Strider for short.' I flicked my tail a little. 'May I ask yours?' I noted every detail of her appearance, one half of me was telling to see this mare as a competitor, the other half was telling me to see her as a friend. I ignored my brain completely. 'Are you up for the big race?'

"Shiny Copper Penny, Copper for short. Nice to meet you, Strider" I commented, nodding softly. My eyes still roaming over him. "I'm as ready as i'll ever be...and you?"
