Claire immediately shut her mouth tightly. She wasn't going to risk getting in trouble. She watched as the cute blonde boy was shoved roughly out of his cell. She clenched her jaw in anger, wishing this guard wouldn't treat them so roughly. As those horrid men who brought her put it, being a Sacrifice was a privelege. An honor. They should be treated with some respect. But, that wasn't the case. Obviously. She glanced at the guard playing games on his phone. They'd confiscated her phone. She'd love it dearly. Most of the telephone poles had come down with the shifting continents and such and the countries had to much trouble with keeping territory to worry about something like that. She sighed and looked at her lap, wishing her hands were there. But no, they were tied painfully behind her back.
She'd been so lost in her thoughts, she hadn't noticed that the girl had gone over to the guard behind the desk. She jumped as the shot rang in her ears, and looked up in shock as the man slumped over, blood spurting out. He was dead. Dead. Just like she was supposed to be. What was this guard doing?! Was she even a guard? No. She wasn't. That's what those reassuring words had been for...she'd figured they were routine. Nope. They weren't. Claire stared in shock as the red head walked over to them and stood there, studying them. She adjusted her open jaw into a firm line, attempting to look tough. However, she was very relieved. Perhaps they wouldn't be dying just yet.
She glanced at her shoulder, noticing that the sleeve of her shirt had fallen down. She tried to adjust herself, trying to get to go back up. It was the shoulder she didn't want exposed. The number they'd tattooed on her when she got there was exposed now. She bit her lip, wishing her hands were free. Honestly, she didn't know how criminals dealt with it. The metal bit into her skin, and her arms were bent awkwardly. Now with her sleeves sliding down, she felt incredibely exposed. She studied the number for a moment, memorizing it. It was similar to those tattooed on the Jews during the Holocaust, but it was her shoulder instead of her forearm.
1535.
It was a code. Identification. She wouldn't be surprised if they ink was made with microscopic trackers, making it hard to escape. She shuddered, hoping that wasn't the case. It'd be horrid.

Daren glanced over at the guard as she scolded the blonde for talking. He glanced back at the girl beside him, then shrugged. He resumed staring at the wall again. He barely looked over as the blonde boy was drug out of his cell. He rolled his eyes at the girls rough tone. Honestly, it wasn't like the other guy was going to notice anything amiss. He was so into that stupid contraption of his that he'd never notice anything. He didn't even know why the guy had the stupid thing, the lines didn't work anymore. Unless he was a gamer, then it'd make sense. He probably was. He frowned, the corners of his mouth turned down rather far.
The bang roused him from his thoughts. He quickly collected himself, his surprise mimicking those of the others seated next to him. He didn't even look at the guard, he was dead no doubt. Daren's eyes never left the guard, the girl who was saving them. He had a feeling he was the only one who realized that. There was something about her that made him trust her, but at the same time he didn't. It was a really weird mixed emotion. His mouth relaxed a bit, settling into an even line. He sighed and shook his head. He looked at the ground, seeing the red-head's feet come into view. He looked up at her, his hair falling into his eyes.
"Can you unlock these things now?" He asked, straightening up.
