"I should have known vampires were immune." Hissed Shae. She spun around and grabbed the officer's gun. Thoroughly irritated by now, she smacked the butt of it into the officer's temple, hoping the blow would knock him unconscoius.

The officer ducked and twisted back her arm, pressed her full weight through the knee into a typical hold into the small of her back. "I will use further force if you don't stop struggling. Now stay still and wait."

S.W.A.T. was thorough; in about twenty minutes (between concerned parents pulling up and shouting and the press arriving as well) a conclusion was reached very quickly.

"Everone except for those specifically picked out, go into the building and congregate to the cafeteria. Searches will be performed to make sure all of you are present and accounted for. Vampires, divide from humans. There should be two sections on both sides."

"Come on," said their escort, pulling her up and pushing her and her friend toward a different entrance.

"On your feet. Go on." Raye exchanged glances with Shazza and Donovan.

[Right. Dinner time! :P brb]

"Screw you." Shae whispered and spun around, trying to escape the grip of the guard. She coughed and finally surrendered, body growing limp. She was intent on being dragged there.

Donovan stood up and began walking toward the cafeteria. "Bye, Raye." He said with a wild glance at her. Then the officer coninued to push him inside.

I was brought down by the guard, and was forced, along with Shae, somewhere, presumably back to the school. I stared at the guard with hatred, I didn't take kindly to being messed around like this, while watching Shae do all her best to struggle, failing.

In what felt like less than half an hour, Raye and Shazza waited nervously in the dirt, anticipating the news that would save them or doom them. Raye shot a terrified glance at Donovan from her place in the grass.

The condemning report warped across the walkie-talkies. The officers began pulling their charges up. "That's it, the order's come through. All vampires, line up and walk to the trucks. All others, stay for questioning and scanning."

Five large military trucks waited at the top of the hill, separated from the crowds of cars, pedestrians, and incoming news crews. Shazza narrowed her eyes at them as Raye was dragged away with the rest.

I was marched back to school, and forced to line up, the guard roughly shoving me against the metal side of a truck. I hissed at him, but he didn't bat an eyelid. These guys were trained. "What do you bastards want us for?" I said rather aggressively, talking to the nearest guard.

"Bodies were recovered with vampire markings. All of you are to be brought into containment and interrogated, and then the state council is going to decide your fate," a female officer replied, clipping on the cuffs. "The murderers have just put the rest of their kind, my kind, in jeopardy. We'll be lucky to get off with a simple relocation-plan. Worst case scenario, though..."

"Get in," someone else said, holding the back door open.

"Knew it." I muttered, barley audible above the ambient noises of the trucks and megaphones. As they ordered, I climbed into the truck, slouching in the seat, arms crossed.

Shae hissed at Alex. "Shut up!" She snarled. "Don't implicate us even more." She glanced around the truck at the other vampires. "Theey wanted to die..." She muttered to herself. "They can't take us away if they wanted to. That was one of the rules..."

"No, you chose to come with me." Shaae whispered back. "I didn't make you." She turned to one of the male guards and asked sweetly, batting her eyelasshes, "Do have any idea where we're going? Any idea at all?" She couldn't help sounding like a damsel in distress, hoping it'd help her. A curl of hair fell lose and landed perfectly against the low curve of her tank top.

The guard didn't even look at her. "Out of town," was all he said, almost bitterly. A few more shuffled into the truck and sat beside the other passengers, cuffed the same, and then they locked it up, and the vehicle began to move.

"The journey will be about 45 minutes. You are being sent to a camp, of sorts, to wait until the Council reaches a decision," someone else in charge explained to everyone present. "That being said, we'll go over a few rules and expectations. And I would strongly suggest adhering to them, seeing as it could mean life or death for all of us."

Raye shifted uneasily in her seat.

"Looks like we're getting check-ups," Shazza commented dryly to Donovan as the humans were rotated in front of the school to a setup of medical tents. "Probably checking for bites."

Shae swore and sat down again. She closed her eyes and inhaled deeply, determined not to look like she was nervous. Could she get someone else to take the blame for her? She probably could, one of those desperate vampire boys would do anything for a night or two... She chuckled but didn't remember how well they'd hidden the bodies. She sighed and went back to people - or rather vampire - watching.

Donovan sighed as an agent came and told him he needed to go with the rest of the humans.
"Behave!" He called to Raye jokingly. He winked and turned around to walk down the gravel path toward the tent.

Raye gave them both a fearful glance before the doors were shut, blocking her view. She looked over at the other vampires sitting beside her. Shazza. Donovan. "Looks like we're in a bit of a mess, huh?" She quipped aloud, trying to sound optimistic, though her heart was beating like a bass in her chest. Will they kill us? No. Think positive.

Shazza shot Donovan a look at his passing comment, but subjected to the full-body check performed by the nurses to look for bites and contamination. "You do know where they're taking her, the rest of them, don't you?"

Shae turned her head to glare at the newcomer. "You're the one that's been with Donovan, aren't you?" She said, voice covered in too-sweet honey. My Donovan, she wanted to add. She sighed and settled back into her chair, crossing her legs. She still fofund the urge to pick petty arguments, even in their dire situation.

"No, actually I don't." Donovan said, coming back over. "I haven't been here long, and nothing like this has ever happened." He sighed and sat down in the grass. "Why haven't you gone?" He asked hesitantly, trying not to sound like he wanted her to go.

Raye rolled the sentence over in her mind. That's pretty vague,, she thought, you'd think I were the ONLY person that's ever been around him. "Um...sure, I guess I was hanging out with him earlier today,,." For what, forty minutes ever? She returned a smile of her own - not so much sweet as sincere. Hey, there was no harm in being polite, right? They were all in the same boat. "What about it? Did something happen to him, or - ?" Obviously, she didn't figure the connection, and began to worry. After all, what if any humans involved with them were sent off, too?

The tall girl have him a long look. It was a scrutinizing gaze, between trying to figure if he was being funny or really just that thick. but he did say that he hadn't been there for very long; might as well begin simply: "Humans and vampires made a treaty several generations back between their governments. By law, anyone violating the treaty is captured and contained," she explained carefully. "However, both sides are starting to disagree again. A coexistence isn't possible when people don't like each other. Vampires kill humans: humans naturally retaliate. Vampires kill human children: then we get the makings of a Civil War."

She trusted that she didn't have to explain what happened to people in wars. Per say, death.

Shae rolled her eyes. "I think he's okay. Whoever killed the people wouldn't hurt him." She smiled evily, her dainty fangs poking out of her mouth innocently. Weird how something with teeth that large could appear innocent, but she did. Just a lonely cheer-leader type girl, sitting on a bus, cold and frightened, talking about her best friend... That's exactly how she wanted it to appear, too.

"Well, I knew why it happened," Donovan rolled his eyes, "I just don't understand what exactly happened, and what everyone's doing now." He looked around. "I didn't qquite catch why you're not gone?" He hinted, knowing full and well she never answered the question. Did she have something to hide? Hopefully not. He liked this Shazza character, and didn't want her to turn out like Shae - a lying, two-faced slut.
