Re: Here Comes the Sun
Morrigan stared as another entered the scene, he didn't look undead, so she was grateful of the assistance. Getting up slowly, she ran to where her palomino mare was standing patiently, having been taught not to flee had her mistress been knocked from the saddle.
She gathered the reins quickly and quietly, only stopping once to check her for bruises and to give her swift praise, before leading her at a fast walk back to where the male was.
The vampire clutched the arrow and uttered another shriek, a deep, animalistic howl that reverberated around the dark atmosphere of the forest. It gave the man one more fleeting look, a look with fire in it's eyes, before it was gone, fleeing into the trees where no doubt a coven were at.

Re: Here Comes the Sun
[I would think that xD]
As the wind changed direction and blew toward them, the overwhelming smell of garlic hit him. Coughing, sputtering and cursing, he flew backwards and hissed at the stranger involuntarily. That was a lot of garlic. He'd guess that the iron on him was in sufficient quanity, too. His tongue traced over his fangs. He'd fed yesterday, but more blood was always welcome. And if not, well, he could wait.

Re: Here Comes the Sun
The vampire scuttled through the trees, pausing every now and again to clamp a hand over the wound on her shoulder, the garlic seemed to make the skin dissolve as though it were acid on sandstone. She eventually arrived at her destination, a cluster of vampires she had been seeking for the past few minutes.

Re: Here Comes the Sun
Aisling hissed at the garlics scent, arching her back in the manner of a cat. She hopped down from the tree, but made no move towards the humans. She looked back at Cato, her eyebrows raised. The woman, what was she doing?

Re: Here Comes the Sun
the vampire moved closer to the other vampires, before hissing;
"The boy, there is a female with her..." She paused to squeeze harder on her wound. "The boy is well armed. You should not underestimate him. As for the girl, she presents no threat, other than carrying a sword."

Re: Here Comes the Sun
Can she move ANY slower? Sheehan almost ground his teeth in annoyance. At a time like this, she'd get them killed! These defenses wouldn't last forever, and both sides knew it. "What are you waiting for?" He hissed. "Ride, while the way is clear!"
And then to the blue-clad vampire, and what appeared to be her assistant before them, he raised the swordpoint. "I pray thee, let us pass."

Re: Here Comes the Sun
Morrigan stared bitterly at the boy, before mounting her mare. "You're coming with me. I can't let you stay here on your own. Besides, I have no defense!" She picked up a small satchel that had fallen to the ground in her quarry, checking what was inside it was not harmed, before riding up next to him.
Re: Here Comes the Sun
"I am on an urgent mission for the Queen," he snapped, a little angry. Sheehan was taken aback by the nerve of the woman, but leaving her alone was no honorable option, lack of gratitude aside. He tapped the second garlic ring around his neck. "You can have this one to take you home..."
But the sun was a long way off, the path possibly frought with greater enemy numbers. It would be a waste of arrows, time, and energy. But the way was finally clear... The warrior suppressed a groan, took a deep breath. "...Where did you have in mind?"

Re: Here Comes the Sun
"From the Queen? Oh lord..." She sighed. Her day couldn't get any worse, could it? "W-well maybe we should go together? I'm heading that way anyway..." She stammered, hoping he wouldn't reject her offer. She thought it sensible, two heads were better than one in situations like these.
Re: Here Comes the Sun
Sheehan couldn't see the sensibility at the moment - but it was a tense one, after all - but suggested, with forced patience, "Either we go on or find a camping site; either way, Miss, you should decide, and quickly, what you wish to do." Cercus stomped her hooves anxiously, echoing the gravity of their situation. He wouldn't mind traveling with her - if they could first survive the night.

Re: Here Comes the Sun
Morrigan raised her hood and looked at the male with mild interest. "Well we better go, if we are going together." She prompted, drawing her sword. "At least someone who has experience fighting those creatures is with me."
Re: Here Comes the Sun
Ground his teeth anyway, but it was the closest to an answer he would get for now. He adjusted the war-mask and handed the extra garlic rosary to her, then nudged the mare's flanks, charging down the road full-tilt, hoping he wouldn't have to tell the woman to ride close. "HYAH! HYAH!"
If they could make it past the foe and into higher ground, they might find a suitable place for the night and be safe.

Re: Here Comes the Sun
Morrigan urged the palomino mare after him, staying close to him. She knew she was an inconvenience to him, but what else was she supposed to do? She lowered her right hand, keeping her sword close, just in case, but also hanging the garlic around her neck for extra protection.

[We'll catch up with you guys again - we're just impatient posters today ^_^; Don't stone us! ]
It had been a good ten minutes, and no sign of trouble; Sheehan let the panting mare slow to a walk, her sides heaving under his legs. The trees had cleared, leaving empty fields of wild wheat on either side under an open sky strewn with cold stars and lights.
No smell of the undead... he patted Cercus' neck, and sheathed the sword in the saddle-scabbard.
Things were calm for now. In the distance, not too far off, sat a darkened lump of a ruin that might serve as a resting place. "So you are headed to the palace as well?" He said, feather-and-bead braided black hair flowing from behind the ram horns.

Re: Here Comes the Sun
Morrigan matched his actions, sheathing her sword and slowing the mare to match his pace. "Well...not the palace per say..." She trailed off, you could tell her words were awkward. "I don't really want to get into trouble with the Queen you see." She explained, not really wanting to go any further in the conversation.

Oh? "I'm sure her Majesty has bigger vermin to kill..." He prompted, out of curiosity, but she didn't have to answer if she didn't want to. The warrior just wanted to know something of his latest traveling companion, besides that she was a tad rude. But wouldn't you be, in a situation like that? He sighed mentally and looked up, mapping the North Point. "To where will I be escorting you?"

Re: Here Comes the Sun
Morrigan saw the slightly unamused look on his face, maybe it was just her, or maybe he really was reacting negatively to her statements. "Forgive me if I seem rude, sir. I don't mean to be it's just that creature frightened the life out of me." She tugged at the satchel around her shoulder, as if to make sure it was still there.
Re: Here Comes the Sun
"No," he conceded, "These are wartimes. Please forgive my short manner, milady." Clip-clop, clip-clop, went the hooves of the horses on the trail. "The enemy fester everywhere, like a plague, and not everyone is battle-ready." Especially against monsters like these.
Might as well start off... "I am Sheehan Taran of Brennt. My path takes me to Messerstein...and I expect, as you mentioned being out-of-favor with her Majesty, that your path will split from mine before then?"

Re: Here Comes the Sun
"That's quite alright, sir." Morrigan rode next to him, so she could talk easier. "I plan on heading to Messerstien with you, if you permit me sir. But I'm afraid I cannot come with you all the way up the castle, for I have some business with the locals."
She paused for a little while, enjoying the peace. "My name is Morrigan O'Hara, it's a pleasure to meet you Sheehan."

Re: Here Comes the Sun
Cato nodded to the new vampire. "Get something on the garlic." He took off a chain of silver he'd been wearing around his neck and held it out to her. "It's enchanted and will pull out the poison that ails you." He turned back to the two humans and narrowed his eyes critically.
Re: Here Comes the Sun
The vampire took the chain delicately in her hands. "Bless you..." She whispered, before using it to heal the wound. "If it helps sir...I noticed something of extreme value in the girl's satchel..."
Re: Here Comes the Sun
Aislings eyes narrowed suspiciously. "And what may that be? If it is of no value to us, then begone with you." She waved her hand dismissively, and eyed Cato. "You're to nice." She hissed in his ear.

Re: Here Comes the Sun
"I'm sorry, Milday." He shot the strange female vampire an apologizing glance before returning to his Mistress. "Milday, if it pleases you, I could rid us of this pest." He offered carefully, slowly, so as not to awaken the fury inside of her.
Re: Here Comes the Sun
Sheehan nodded in turn. "A pleasure, Miss O'Hara. I would ask you the detail of your mission, but to every Messenger, so sworn," he said politely, smiling a little behind his mask. The ruin drew closer, as did several lumps sticking up from the ground: it was a church or chapel of some kind, at the center of a long-dead and forgotten graveyard, overgrown with grass and weeds and wildflowers. This place is still Holy, and hollow. The corpses have long since become the flowers.
"I think this place might suffice," he said quietly, and the wind moaned softly through the ruin's empty, paneless windows.

Re: Here Comes the Sun
"No. She is worthless to us. Her end would be a waste of your energy. Let us hear what is in the woman's satchel, then we shall leave her. She can find her own way to die." Aisling's eyes darkened slightly. Perhaps with hunger, or perhaps with malice. Either way she was not pleased.
